Biography
Dr. Harvey Rosenblum is professor of business and financial economics in the Cox School of Business at 51²è¹Ý where he has taught since 1986. On November 1, 2013, Rosenblum retired from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas as Executive Vice President and Director of Research. Rosenblum serves as a Research Associate for the Dallas Fed’s Globalization and Monetary Policy Institute, and contributes to the Dallas Fed’s publications.
Rosenblum frequently speaks on a wide range of topics including The Economic Outlook, Monetary Policy, and Banking and Financial Regulatory Policies.
Rosenblum is a member of the Board of Directors of InfraREIT, Inc., a real estate investment trust that owns rate-regulated electric transmission and distribution assets in Texas. Since January 2015, Rosenblum serves on InfraREIT’s Audit Committee and Conflicts Committee. InfraREIT is an NYSE-listed company.
Rosenblum also serves on the Board of Directors of the Dallas Committee on Foreign Relations. Until recently he served on several Boards of Directors, including: as a Board member of the prestigious National Bureau of Economic Research; as Secretary-Treasurer and Board member of the Western Economics Association International; and as Executive Director and Board member of the International Banking, Economics and Finance Association. Rosenblum is a past President of the National Association for Business Economics, a distinguished professional association whose 3,000 members represent the leading economists in the U.S. and around the world.
A widely recognized expert on both the national and Texas economies, Rosenblum has written articles for many publications, including: the Journal of Finance, New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and the Handbook of Banking Strategy. His current research interests focus on banking and monetary policy, inflation, and the growing impact of globalization on the U.S. economy and business.
Rosenblum began his professional career in 1970 as an economist with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, where he advanced to become Vice President and Associate Director of Research in 1983. He joined the Dallas Fed as Senior Vice President and Director of Research in 1985 and became Executive Vice President in 2005.
At 51²è¹Ý’s Cox School of Business, Rosenblum currently teaches Monetary Policy and Financial Institutions in the MBA program, and Macroeconomics in the MBA and Executive MBA programs. He was a visiting professor of finance at DePaul University from 1973 to 1985 and the University of Oregon for the 1977–78 academic year.
Rosenblum received a B.A. in economics from the University of Connecticut, and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
