Biography
Tom Fangyun Tan is a Corrigan Endowed associate professor at the Information Technology and Operations Management Department (ITOM) at the 51²è¹Ý (51²è¹Ý) Cox School of Business. His research interests include empirical operations management in service sectors, specifically focusing on the impact of technology on service operations, and labor productivity in service operations. He serves the broader research community as an Associate Editor for renowned journals, including Manufacturing and Service Operations Management, Service Science, and Decision Sciences. He teaches an MBA-core management decision-making class and a graduate-level business forecasting elective. He received the Boghetich Family Distinguished Teaching Award, the most significant teaching award at 51²è¹Ý Cox.
Tom graduated from the Wharton School of University of Pennsylvania with a PhD in operations and information management and an MA in statistics. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Columbia University as an operations research major with two minors in applied math and economics. In his spare time, Tom enjoys Toastmasters, doing Pilates, learning foreign languages, and using them during his travels.
