Biography

Xavier Tison is the Director of Energy Innovation at the Institute.  Xavier joined the Institute in 2021 after a twenty-year career in the energy industry.  Xavier started his career working offshore as an MWD/LWD Field Engineering for Schlumberger, the world’s largest oilfield service company.   During his time at Schlumberger, Xavier worked in the Gulf of Mexico and North Sea assets.  Xavier joined FMC Technologies, a para petroleum company, as an application engineer in the Subsea Division.  During the shale revolution, Xavier was moved to the Barnett Shale and helped established new technology focused on the shale processes. This was one of many intrapreneurial assignments within FMC.  Xavier also established the team handling the Marcellus Shale. During his development at FMC, Xavier expanded his technical competency and business acumen, holding roles in Engineering, Service Installation, Sales & Marketing, and Operations Management.  Xavier ended running a global organization as a General Manager at the end of his tenure.

Xavier has an MBA from the 51²è¹Ý Cox School of Business, as well as a Masters and Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from the 51²è¹Ý Lyle School of Engineering.  Xavier is originally from northern France and attended 51²è¹Ý on a track and field scholarship.  As a student athlete, Xavier was NCAA runner up in the Hammer throw and several time national champion and on the French national team.  Xavier is also married to a fellow Mustang.  As a student, Xavier personally invested in the University and is delighted to continue that investment at the Institute.

Xavier’s global experience in the energy sector, as well as his entrepreneurial drive make him an ideal ambassador for Cox, the Maguire Energy Institute and students.
