The 51²è¹Ý Center for Dispute Resolution and Conflict Management offers an in-depth study of conflict theory along with specializations in organizational, social services, international conflict and education. Students learn negotiation, problem-solving, mediation, arbitration, systems design and other dispute resolution skills. Practical role-plays and class participation equip students with the necessary expertise in conflict resolution.

The program emphasizes skills crucial for resolving disputes in business, domestic, educational, management, public policy, church, legal and healthcare settings. Its multidisciplinary approach integrates psychology, sociology, law, management theory, organizational development, public policy and economics. As organizations recognize the importance of conflict management for enhancing productivity and satisfaction, dispute resolution becomes a highly marketable skill in today’s business world.

Pioneering conflict resolution education

In 2006, 51²è¹Ý became the first university in the southwest region of the United States to offer an interdisciplinary master’s degree in dispute resolution and conflict management.

Our curriculum

The Master of Arts in dispute resolution and conflict management (MADR) requires the completion of 36 credit hours with the option of concentrated study. dispute resolution offers rolling admission and start dates throughout the year with no enrollment minimums per term.
