51²è¹Ý welcomed first-year and transfer students to the Hilltop during Opening Convocation 2017.

51²è¹Ý Reads welcomed "Evicted" author Matthew Desmond to campus to discuss a widespread problem in America.
 
51²è¹Ý students were treated to their own personalized poem courtesy of the Typewriter Poet who paid a visit to the campus in support of 51²è¹Ý Reads.

Thousands of students, faculty and townspeople showed up on campus Monday, Aug. 21, the first day of classes, to view the Great American Solar Eclipse.
 
51²è¹Ý first-year students ventured out on 22 different area excursions as part of Discover Dallas during Mustang Corral 2017.

During the 103rd Opening Convocation, 51²è¹Ý President R. Gerald Turner addressed the incoming class of 2021. .
