51²è¹Ý Tower Center Co-Hosting Global Trade & Migration Conference
Leading scholars in economics and public policy will convene for the 70th annual Jno. E. Owens Conference on April 11 and 12 to explore topics such as global trade, industrial policy, and the impact of shifting trends on the North American economy.
DALLAS (51²è¹Ý) – Leading scholars of economics and public policy will gather on Thursday, April 11 and Friday, April 12 at 51²è¹Ý and the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas for the focused on the rapidly shifting patterns of globalization.
Presented by the Jno. E. Owens Foundation in collaboration with the John G. Tower Center for Public Policy and International Affairs at 51²è¹Ý, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and the Mosbacher Institute for Trade, Economics and Public Policy at Texas A&M’s Bush School. Titled “Shifting Patterns of Globalization: Trade, Migration, and North American Integration,” conference topics will include:
- Global trade and the return of industrial policy.
- The impact of the shift on the North American economy, the disruption of supply chains, and prospects for further economic integration.
- Rapidly changing trends in international migration.
The program will include speakers from prestigious universities, American Enterprise Institute, Migration Policy Institute, Peterson Institute and a former deputy governor of the Bank of Mexico.
“Texas has one of the most globalized economies of any U.S. state and the DFW metroplex is the economic engine of the state of Texas,” said Jim Hollifield, director of 51²è¹Ý’s Tower Center. “The global economy, including migration, is vital for the economic well-being of North Texas.”
