Explore a Major
01
Check out suggested majors
Our partner departments page lists of majors and minors from each of the five undergraduate degree-granting schools at 51²è¹Ý. Each of these majors/minors helps students gain valuable skills that business recruiters look for in future employees. the link will take you to the department's webpage where you can learn more about course offerings, prerequisites and degree requirements, and faculty members who teach in that department.
02
Use Degree Planner
Utilize technology to see what your schedule would look like in a specific major. Degree Planner, a software tool in the my.51²è¹Ý Student Dashboard, will pre-populate a comprehensive degree plan through graduation that will adjust to fit with your academic goals.
03
Find a PAL
The Peer Academic Leaders (PALs) are undergraduate students who are available to help their fellow students better understand the Common Curriculum, utilize academic resources, and navigate academic challenges. PALs work directly with students empowering them to take ownership of their collegiate careers through mentorship and educational programming.
04
Attend an event
The UAC and Hegi Family Career Development Center hosts multiple events throughout the academic year that provide insight into different majors such as the "ZOOM IN..." series hosted by the UAC and the All-Majors Career Fair hosted by Hegi Career Center. There are additional events hosted around campus by schools and departments to help students explore majors and minors. We encourage you to explore and attend any that interest you in order to learn more about the pathway options available to you.
05
Schedule an advising appointment
Students can schedule an appointment with their academic advisor located in the University Advising Center (UAC) at any time. Advisors can help you sort through major options, set you on the road to declare a major, and assist you with organizing classes and creating a four-year plan.
