Honor Council

The 51²è¹Ý Honor Council, through the 51²è¹Ý Honor Code, oversees the academic conduct of all undergraduate at 51²è¹Ý and graduate students enrolled in the Dedman College of Humanities & Sciences, Lyle School of Engineering, Meadows School of the Arts, Moody School of Graduate & Advanced Studies, and Guildhall. The Honor Council is advised by the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

The recommended minimum sanctions assigned for students found "Responsible" for violating the Honor Code is Deferred Suspension and an Honor Violation being placed on their transcript. 

For a period of one (1) year, no student with an H.V. on their record shall be entitled to a scholarship based on any factor other than need.

An Honor Violation will remain on a students transcript three (3) years after a student graduates.

Information For Faculty

Faculty members who suspect a student has violated the 51²è¹Ý Honor Code should follow one of the following:

  • Resolve the case informally with the student without filing any paperwork.
  • Resolve the case formally, in writing, with the student by selecting "Faculty Disposition" on the .
  • Refer the case to the Honor Council for a hearing selecting "Disciplinary Referral" on the .
