A new and late addition to our newsletter this year is PhD alumni news! We will be reaching out to our alumni mailing list earlier next year to get your professional news (e.g. new job, promotion, etc.) or personal news (e.g. marriages, babies, etc.). Here it goes!


In June of 2021, Stuart started as Interim Chair of the Department of Economics at Middle Tennessee State University.  The Department has 32 full-time faculty, 8 programs (BS econ, BBA econ, BBA finance, BBA risk management and insurance, BBA real estate finance, MA economics, MS Finance, Ph.D. econ.) and over 500 majors.


Sanjeev has accepted a lecturer position with the economics department at Dartmouth starting in January 2022 after his appointment with Yale’s Department of Health Policy and Management finishes in December 2021.


Sunghoon is currently on leave from the Korea Development Institute. Together with his family, he is spending two years (until June 2023) at the World Bank in Washington DC.


Cullum has been busy over the last year! He leads the “Blueprint for Opportunity” program in Bush Institute-51²è¹Ý partnership. Texas A&M University Press released his book The Texas Triangle: An Emerging Power in the Global Economy. He was appointed by the Dallas City Council as one of 15 members of an advisory committee on the City’s new economic development policy. He has written articles and op-eds appearing in City Journal, Real Clear Policy, the Dallas Morning News, the Houston Chronicle, and New Geography and done interviews with Freakonomics Radio, Bloomberg News and testified before the Texas House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee and the Dallas City Council.


Punarjit has moved again! He had been an Assistant Professor at the University of Nottingham in the UK but now he's back as an Assistant Professor at Shiv Nadar University in Delhi. 


Hao has moved within China from Nanjing Audit University to Southeast University.


Manini is happy to share that on October 19th, 2021 at 6.28 am she gave birth to a beautiful baby boy. His name is “Avyay”.


Priyanka finished her two-year visiting position at Allegheny College and has now started as an Assistant Professor at Centenary College of Louisiana.
