Alumni Placement and Bios
The relatively small size of our incoming classes mean that we develop a close relationship with our students and maintain those relationships with our alumni. Alumni testimonials show that a key strength of the department is our ability to support and mentor students and help them grow from students to researchers. Often, these faculty-student relationships turn into co-authoring relationships as colleagues.
Our alumni bios and historical placements list show our students regularly obtain high quality academic and non-academic jobs. Our alumni hold academic positions in the US at places including Auburn University, University of California Riverside, University of Nevada Las Vegas and University of Oklahoma as well as overseas at places including University of Nottingham, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics, Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, and Queensland University of Technology. Our alumni have held non-academic positions at the Bank for International Settlements, the World Bank, the Texas Attorney General’s Office, the Central Bank of Georgia, the Korea Development Institute, Walt Disney, and Morgan Stanley.
Our Alumni Board helps maintain strong relationships between the department and alumni. An annual alumni conference brings alumni back to present their current research. Alumni discussion panels where alumni describe their academic and non-academic experiences help current students understand possible future career paths and how to best succeed on the PhD job market.
