Biographical Note
Melvyn Leffler (Cornell BS, Class of 1966) is a Professor of History at the University of Virginia. He specializes in the history of U.S. foreign relations and has published several books, articles, and essays on the subject. He has been awarded the George Louis Beer Prize from the American Historical Association (2008), the Bancroft, Hoover, and Ferrell Prizes (1993). His other awards and honors include the UVA Thomas Jefferson Award for excellence in scholarship, a Randolph Jennings Fellowship at the United States Institute of Peace (2004-2005), a Henry Kissinger Fellowship at the Library of Congress (2004-2005), a Fellowship at the Norwegian Nobel Peace Institute (1993, 1997, 2011). Leffler also served as the Dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences at UVA from 1997-2001.
