Biographical Note
Sayuri Shimizu (Cornell MA, Class of 1988, Cornell PhD, Class of 1992) is a Dunlevie Family Chair and Professor of History at Rice University. Her emphasis is on U.S.-East Asian relations from the mid-19th century onward. She researches the history of U.S.-Japanese relations, comparative colonialism, the transpacific world, sports in international relations, and global governance.
