1.  Definitions

Definitions of capitalized terms are set forth in Appendix A.

2.  Policy Statement

It is the policy of the University that a portion of the required general student fee is allocated to the Student Association to fund activities approved by the students.

3.  Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to provide for the allocation by the students of the Student Activity Fee and to confirm that the funds derived from the Student Activity Fee are University funds.

4.  Applicability

This policy applies to all University Personnel involved in the collection and distribution of the Student Activity Fee.

5.  Disbursement and Use of the Student Activity Fee

The Board of Trustees has delegated to the students the right to allocate the Student Activity Fee solely for use by student activities groups approved by the students. The funds derived from the Student Activity Fee are University funds and must be disbursed by the University, consistent with appropriate auditing procedures.

Questions about this policy may be directed to the Vice President for Business and Finance.

Appendix A: Definitions

“Student Activity Fee” means the portion of the required general student fee allocated to the Student Association to fund activities approved by the students. 

“University Personnel” means faculty, staff, students, volunteers and contractors.
