Goldwater Scholarship
Founded by the U.S. Congress in 1986, the Barry Goldwater Scholarship supports the development of the next generation of the country’s scientists by providing financial support to talented undergraduate STEM students preparing for a career as professional researchers. Sophomores awarded the scholarship will receive $7500 in both their junior and senior years that can be used toward tuition, room & board, and mandatory fees. Juniors awarded the scholarship will receive $7500 for their senior year.
Students planning to apply for the Goldwater should seek out opportunities for research during their first two years at 51²è¹Ý. For on-campus opportunities, start with the Office of Engaged Learning’s Undergraduate Research Assistantships. The National Science Foundation’s also offers generous scholarships for gaining research experience at hundreds of labs across the United States.
