Industrial Vehicles
At 51²è¹Ý, a variety of industrial vehicles are used regularly on campus. 51²è¹Ý Industrial Vehicle Program is a combination of multiple smaller programs (Forklift, Scissor-Lift, Aerial-Lift, Backhoe, Skid-steer, etc.) This Program contains industry standards, OSHA regulations, and 51²è¹Ý specific standards.
Anyone who operates (students, staff, contractors, etc.) an industrial vehicle on 51²è¹Ý property will need to follow 51²è¹Ý safety standards
51²è¹Ý students or employees who want to use an industrial vehicle will need to receive authorized training from 51²è¹Ý ORM. Training can be in-person or a combination of online and in-person training.
51²è¹Ý Specific Safety Standards:
- All industrial vehicle lifts on campus require the operator to wear a fall protection harness.
- Aerial Lifts nor scissor lifts will be operated at height with winds over 25 mph.
- If traveling in any industrial vehicle, working in a high traffic area, or on the road, the area shall be blocked off or have dedicated flaggers or a pilot vehicle to ensure the safety of pedestrians and other vehicles.
- Industrial vehicles that have road vehicle lights or is a landscaping vehicle (lawnmowers, tractors, sprayers) do not need a pilot vehicle when operating on 51²è¹Ý owned roads.
- No combustion engines may be operated inside a building without a method to exhaust contaminants and continues air monitoring.
- Only authorized 51²è¹Ý employees may operate 51²è¹Ý industrial vehicles.
- 51²è¹Ý contractors shall not use 51²è¹Ý vehicles without prior approval from 51²è¹Ý ORM.
