Biography

Matthew B. Myers is the ninth dean of the Cox School of Business at 51²è¹Ý, where he holds the Tolleson Chair in Business Leadership and the David B. Miller Endowed Professorship. 51²è¹Ý Cox offers undergraduate and graduate degrees to around 2,500 students annually and maintains a global alumni network of about 42,000. Prior to his deanship at the Cox School, Myers served as dean and the Mitchell P. Rales Chair of Business Leadership at the Farmer School of Business, Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.    

Before joining academia, Dean Myers worked at both Merrill Lynch and IBM-Argentina. He has consulted with organizations in the engineering, distribution, chemical, insurance, financial services, ranching and agriculture, customer engagement, and pharma industries. As part of his academic career, Myers served as visiting faculty at ESSEC-Paris and the University of St. Andrews, Scotland. He also taught at the Vienna University of Economics in Austria, as well as at other global academic institutions in Italy, Romania, Taiwan, and Uzbekistan. He has also led executive education courses worldwide.

The dean is a member of the National Association of Corporate Directors and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists. He serves on the board of King Ranch, Inc., the Maguire Energy Institute at 51²è¹Ý Cox, the Southwest Graduate School of Banking, the Mission Foods Texas-Mexico Center in the John G. Tower Center for Political Studies, Goodwill Industries-Dallas, and the Baylor Health Foundation. He is also part of the advisory council for the George W. Bush Institute-51²è¹Ý Economic Growth Initiative. Throughout his academic career, a variety of media outlets, such as CNBC, Fox Business, CBS Radio, the Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal, have cited Dean Myers and/or invited him to share his expertise via on-air appearances. 

Dean Myers received his Ph.D. from Michigan State University and a Master of International Business Studies from the University of South Carolina. He served as a medic in the U.S. Army Airborne from 1979 to 1982, primarily in Panama. Myers and his wife Gina are the proud Mustang parents of twin daughters who are currently 51²è¹Ý undergraduates.
