Biography

Brigadier General Steven B. Horton, US Army (retired) holds a B.S. from the United States Military Academy (West Point), MSOR and Ph.D. degrees from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and an MS from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces. His academic interests include graph algorithms, computational complexity, and combinatorial optimization. Steve taught mathematics at the United States Military Academy (West Point) between 1991 and 2018, serving as the Probability and Statistics Program Director, Deputy Department Head, and Department Head for the Department of Mathematical Sciences. At the institutional level, he served on the Admissions Committee, served on and chaired the Credentials and Promotions Committee, and served as the Faculty Athletic Representative to the NCAA. Steve is an avid musician, playing guitar and saxophone. He is also an accomplished duplicate bridge player.

His work since retirement includes teaching for 51²è¹Ý’s Cox School of Business where he is now an Adjunct Professor of Marketing, working as the Director of the COMAP (Consortium for Mathematics and Its Applications) Mathematical Contest in Modeling, and consulting.
